Your Bullet Journal’s secret weapon is as close as a download away. Draw grids in 1/3 the time and spend time on your life, not in your planner!
How fast can YOU split your page in half in your Bullet Journal? In this time challenge, I used 3 methods:
- Count and Calculate
- Grid Spacing Cheat Sheet

In the video, you can see the timer count up as I use each method to split my page in half. I knew myBullet Journal secret weapon helped me grid fast, but even I was shocked by the results!
Things you need to know: I wanted to eliminate the possibility of being able to do this from memory and have a fresh start. So I hadn’t split my page in half or practiced doing so for a few days before I started this challenge. I set up my camera and timer, opened my bujo, and started!
Fast:#1 Count and Calculate
The first is called Count and Calculate.
First, count all the spaces:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26.
Next, divide 26 by 2 = 13.
Third, count to 13: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13
Use your ruler to divide your page in half.
That took almost a full minute to do.
Faster: #2 Grid Spacing Cheat Sheet
The second method uses a grid spacing cheat sheet.
First, draw a grid spacing cheat sheet – this will take you at least 10 minutes, but I’ll refer to the one I previously drew.
My grid spacing cheat sheet already has 1/2 calculated out to 13, so when I go back to my page that I was working on, I count 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13.
Now I can take my ruler, draw my line, and that took 40 seconds.

The fastest method is to use The Grid Tool. It eliminates the need for BOTH calculating AND counting.
I’ll use it to split my page in half.
First, line it up with the first dot at 00.
Mark at 2, use the opposite side as a straightedge and draw your line in less than 20 seconds.
